Las Vegas - 3/13/11

After Mike & Chloe's wedding, Jon & Emilee spent a week in California with me!  It was so much fun and I'm so glad they came to visit me!  We originally planned to drive the whole way to Cali on Sunday, but then I found out I didn't have to work Monday morning.  We didn't want to brave the Las-Vegas-to-Cali traffic, so we stopped in Vegas for the night.

After we got settled in our hotel room at the Stratosphere, we headed out to walk the Strip.  We didn't want to walk all the way down and back, so we took a taxi.  Being the naive people we are (we'd never been in a taxi), we told the driver we only had $12, and to drive us as far as that would take us.  Well, long story short, she stopped the meter at $12.10 and then basically yelled at us for not having 10 cents and not tipping her.  We told her to relax and  found some more money to give her what she wanted.  But we definitely learned the hard way how to make a taxi driver mad!

We made it to Caesar's Palace (although I think she took the longest route possible... of course costing us more).

We saw the Bellagio fountains and then made the walk back to the Stratosphere.

I think the most disappointing point of the night was when we were hungry and tired and so looking forward to eating dinner.  We made it to the food court at Fashion Show and it was closed at 8 pm!  We just about cried.

We of course had to go up to the top of the Stratosphere.  I'd never done this, so I was amazed.  We were 971 feet off the ground, and the craziest part was watching people jump off the side... for fun!

(If you want to skip ahead, you can see the guy jump at about 0:54)

There were also some crazy rides up there (this ride goes out over the edge of the Stratosphere).  As I was re-watching this video I was laughing out loud at my commentary.  I could never go on this ride!

None of us wore good shoes for walking, so we were glad to get back, soak our feet, and relax!

This is sad, but I've actually never been to Vegas, I've been through Vegas, but never stopped and done anything. It looks like fun though and I've always wanted to go.

I could NEVER do those rides either! I don't even has the desire to go up there, so thanks for the pictures and videos. I'll just live that part of my life through you.
