Family Time

This was not the best of weeks for me, so I was glad to take a quick weekend getaway to Bakersfield to hang out with my aunt Paula.

I left straight from work on Friday and braved the L.A. rush hour traffic (that was dumb of me). While there, we ate out a few times, laughed a lot, watched movies, watched Paula's basketball game (her team beat Santa Ana!), and had a good time! My aunt Mylie, uncle John, and cousins Emily and Shane came over from Arizona, so it was so fun to see them too!

Interesting story... on Saturday we went to visit a friend of Paula's in the hospital (fun, I know!) and as we were leaving, some random girl started asking for directions to walk to a hospital on the other side of town. It would have been several hours to walk there, but Paula did her good deed for the day and offered this girl a ride.... the girl's first words were "You guys must be Christians!" It turns out she is living under a bridge while her husband is helping build a Habitat for Humanity house for them.

Here's my only picture from the weekend... this is me with my uncle John at the basketball game (taken on his cell phone):

I had to leave early this morning to get back in time to teach a Relief Society lesson at church today, but it was good to get away and see everyone, even if only for a few days!

That's so good you got to get away for the weekend! Sometimes that's just what the doctor ordered! Hope this upcoming week goes better for you. :)
