After I left you all hanging at the end of my last post, I packed up all my stuff and drove to Utah all day Wednesday to surprise my parents (I have some time off work... that's for another post)!
They had absolutely no idea I was coming and their reactions to seeing me were priceless.
They had absolutely no idea I was coming and their reactions to seeing me were priceless.
First I drove to my dad's "hotel" where he has been staying for the past 3-ish weeks. I walked into his room at the care center and he immediately started laughing when he saw me and just kept saying I completely made his day. It was so good to see him and chat for about an hour before heading home. When I got home, I rang the doorbell and told my brother to make sure my mom would answer the door. When she opened it, she stared at me for a minute and then also started laughing and didn't stop for a few minutes. It was so funny! My siblings all new I was coming, but I definitely shocked my parents.
These few days home have been great. I've spent lots of time with my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews! I've already fit in lots of shopping, eating (Zupas, Red Mango... mmm), crafting (pictures to come), babysitting, and LOTS of laughing.
My dad came home yesterday after being away for 4 weeks. He has quite the contraption of a walker to use to get around the house, but still has to take it easy. He still can't put any weight on his leg for 4 more weeks... I would go crazy!
Tonight my parents had a couple over for dinner who used to live in the neighborhood about 8 years ago (Jed & Candace Clark). Jed has been in Iraq and Kyrgyzstan for the last 2 1/2 years as a bus driver (among other responsibilities) on U.S. military bases. He had some incredible stories and pictures and we all couldn't get enough of them. He mentioned seeing camel spiders there, and at the thought of them I made the comment that I would rather be around bullets and guns than spiders. I HATE THEM.
So with that on my mind, tonight my brother Mike killed a tiny little spider on the ceiling with a tissue. He then threw what I thought to be the spider-tissue at me (but it was a clean tissue). I completely lost it, screamed, and went running, laughing, and actually crying to the other side of the room. To the surprise of everyone in the room, especially me, it actually brought me to tears... that's how much I hate spiders. But I have to admit it was really funny!
Good times. If anyone out there is still reading this, I am impressed. I didn't mean for this to get so wordy, but I guess I've got a lot on my mind!

How fun, I love a good surprise. I can totally see your parents just start laughing because they were so surprised, I love it. I'm glad your dad is finally home.
That is so awesome that you surprised your parents like that! Haha, I love it :) I hope your dad can heal quickly, that is such a bummer. Okay I hate spiders, too, and whenever my husband kills one he always wants me to look at it and I freak out and run away and sometimes want to cry! :)
