We were one of the first people over there, but soon at least 50 people started to gather to see what was happening. The helicopter had landed on the big field, and apparently the EMTs were waiting for the ambulance to arrive. I guess a few blocks over a man was pruning his tree and fell off a ladder and hit his head on the concrete. They blocked off the intersection closest to his house, but it was too windy today to safely land the helicopter there, so it landed a few blocks away at the park. We were all nervous for the ambulance to arrive because we didn't know if we would know the patient inside, but luckily we didn't know him. I just hope he will be okay!
The craziest part of this was when the helicopter got ready to take off. We were standing about 50 yards from it, and the wind created from the propellers was incredible! It was definitely the strongest wind I've ever been in... it was hard to stand up in it. As we were leaving, we heard a little 3-year-old boy say "That was AWESOME!" That will be something I'm sure he will never forget... neither will I!
