Six Flags - 3/19/11

On Jon & Emilee's last day in California we headed to Six Flags Magic Mountain.  The last time I was there was for my high school choir tour about 7 years ago, so I was excited (and nervous) to go back!  We quickly learned, after waiting in line for 2 1/2 hours for our first ride, that the purchase of a Flash Pass was necessary.  We forked out the money and it was DEFINITELY worth it!  We didn't have to wait in line for more than about 30 minutes for any ride and I think we rode 8 rides total.  I was pretty much terrified while waiting in lines, but every ride (except for one... see below) was worth it and so fun!  The only bad parts of the day were that I twisted my ankle and that my camera basically got smashed to death in Jon's pocket at some point during the day.

If you haven't ridden on extreme thrill rides, here are some videos of my favorites to give you an idea of how crazy-amazing-scary-fun-exhilarating they can really be!!

SUPERMAN:
I was definitely most scared to go on this ride.  But waiting in line we met some cool people from Brazil that we talked to for a long time and they kept me distracted!  They were a brother and sister, I think Larisa & Leonardo were their names, traveling in the U.S. for 20 days and hitting lots of theme parks (hopefully a picture to come... hint hint Emilee).  This ended up being my favorite ride of the day!

SCREAM:
The best part of this was hearing Jon yell "IT'S TOO MUCH!!!" about halfway through this ride... I still laugh about it today!

X2:
This our first ride (that we waited hours in line for) and the one that made Emilee cry.  Not out of love, out of fear!  She had never been on a thrill ride like this, and I think she didn't quite realize what she was getting herself into.  But she quickly recovered and I think had a great time on all the other rides!

TATSU:
This wins the award for the most terrifying ride EVER.  You ride facing the ground, with nothing below you, so you don't have a choice in the phrase "don't look down" if your eyes are open.  Mine were not.  I was absolutely petrified the whole time and had my eyes closed for a good 80% of the ride.  My new Brazilian friend Larisa kept yelling to me "open your eyes... it's so pretty!" and all I could muster up was to shake my head no and keep my eyes shut.  I was living my greatest fear, hahaha!  Heights and this ride did not mix well with each other.  Plus, it didn't help that on the way to this ride, I completely biffed it on the stairs and twisted my ankle pretty badly... good times!
