Alaska Cruise - Day 6

We woke up early today to see the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show at 7:45 a.m. in Ketchikan, Alaska! The show was really fun to watch... these guys were crazy! They were throwing axes, sawing logs, racing up and down poles, and running across logs in water... it was very entertaining!

The best part of the city of Ketchikan for me was Creek Street. It used to be a red-light district in the early 1900s, but now all these old houses have been turned into little shops. There are no roads or other places for cars... the old houses are all over the creek and there are wooden walkways connecting them all. I loved it!

We were only in Ketchikan for about 5 hours, but that was plenty of time. It was a small town with not a whole lot to do! We just did lots of shopping and even got free jewelry. A ton of the jewelry stores had coupons for free pearls and other gemstones. They were really small, but they were free!

We left Ketchikan at about 12:30, and we were all so tired that we just took naps and watched movies until dinner! This was the second formal dinner and we were kind of sad because it was the last dinner before we had to go back home! The waiters sang a song for everyone... I was really impressed with all the crew on the ship and how hard they worked to make it a good experience for us!

After dinner we made it to the end of that night's show, which was songs and dances from different movies and plays.

Then we sat down for a minute to listen to this string quartet. I don't usually love listening to this kind of music, but this group was so good! I honestly could have listened to them play forever!

That night was the dessert extravaganza. I thought it was funny that it opened at 10:00 for pictures only... we couldn't eat any of it until 10:30! But some of those desserts were worth taking pictures of. There was so much... there were tables lining the edges of the swimming pool, all covered with many different desserts!
