"I want the story behind why you chose ISU..."
Well, I went to Utah State University for my undergrad in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. If anyone wants to get a job as a speech-language pathologist (SLP), they have to get a Master's degree. I never, never, never in my whole life thought I would EVER get a Master's degree! But I knew I didn't really have a choice, so I applied to USU and ISU. I had heard that ISU had a good program, so I looked into it and it seemed pretty good. I was also interested because it is relatively close (about 3 hours from SLC), and since I'm from Utah I could get a waiver and not have to pay out-of-state tuition. That was a huge factor! I still really wanted to stay at USU because a lot of my friends were staying there, I was familiar with campus and the program, I knew the professors, etc... there were many reasons! But when it came down to it, I was on the waiting list for USU, and I got accepted to ISU. So I accepted it, even though I was SO nervous! I didn't know anything about Pocatello. I had stayed over night once on my way to EFY when I was in high school, but that was the extent of my exposure to the city... a hotel room! I didn't know anyone pretty much in the whole state of Idaho, so that was scary too. The first few weeks of the program were pretty rough. I was so overwhelmed and nervous and I just wanted to quit! But once I finished those first couple of weeks in the program, I was much better. Although there have been some rough patches and plenty of moments of stress, I have really enjoyed it here. I have made so many great friends at school these last two years and I will be sad to leave them soon! I have learned a lot and I'm excited to be finished with school forever in a couple of months!
