July Resolutions - Update

1. Lose weight.
This month I only lost 0.2 pounds, but 2.3 inches from my neck, hips, and waist.

 2. Read the whole Book of Mormon.
Wow, this was really hard to keep up with.  I was pretty good at the beginning of the month but then got behind schedule and it was hard to catch up.  So I did not finish the Book of Mormon but I am okay with that!  I read much more this month than I have been doing lately and I hope I can continue.  I had a lesson at church last Sunday and the teacher said if our goal is to just get through the scriptures, we will not get much out of them.  But if we really study them (and maybe not read as much straight through), that's when we will get the best benefit.  I needed to hear those words!

3. Attend the temple.
I realized on the 31st that the whole month had gone by and I didn't go to the temple.  Next month!

4. Run my first 5k.
Speaking of running, I have to fit in my miles somewhere in here... this month I ran 20.93 miles.  And I actually ran 3 races this month!  The first one was slightly under a 5k and was pretty informal, but it was a good one to get me started.  I'm still not up to running without stopping, but my times have gotten faster each time, and that's what matters most to me.

(1) Kanab Fun Run - July 4, 2012 - Kanab, UT
2.87 miles, 36:21, 12:40ish average pace

(2) Hobbler 5k - July 7, 2012 - Springville, UT
41:28, 13:23 average pace, 15th in 25-29 age group

(3) Handcart Days - July 21, 2012 - Bountiful, UT
38:02, 12:16 average pace, 26th place in 25-29 age group

5. Sign up for tennis lessons.
This is another one I didn't do.  I played a few time with my sister-in-law Emilee and she is a pretty good coach!  She is always correcting me on my swing and is very patient with me... I will be the first to admit I am really bad at tennis.

6. Go on a hike.
I went on 3 separate hikes of varying lengths and difficulty and I enjoyed them all!

(1) Squaw Trail - Kanab, UT

(2) Rocky Mouth - Sandy, UT

(3) Adams Canyon - Layton, UT

One of these times we should do a race together. I know Andrea, Devin, my husband and I would be up to it. Three races, very cool!
