Goodfellow House

On Sunday I got back from a really fun weekend with my family in southern Utah at the Goodfellow House (we were there July 22-25). We had a family reunion there about 5 years ago, and I was so excited to go back! But this time, just my immediate family had the whole house and pool to ourselves (there were 17 of us including the little grand kids) so it was much roomier and still lots of fun!

The Goodfellow House is about 10 miles east of Kanab and pretty much in the middle of nowhere. But that just meant that we could be as loud as we wanted and no one would hear us! This is the view from the house:

We spent LOTS of time in this awesome pool:
The only downfall was that we think there was algae or something in the pool because pretty much everything that touched the water (hair, skin, swimsuits) turned green.

We sang karaoke...

We even rode on a float in the Pioneer Day parade! My Grandpa Chamberlain's 85th birthday was on July 24th and we got 75 of his descendants all together to sit on this float... it was very impressive!

After the parade everyone came over to the house for a barbecue and swimming. We gave my Grandpa a book of pictures and memories we all have of him and my Grandma (Grandpa is on the right and he had just opened the book in this picture). My favorite comment of his was something like, "If I was in charge of this birthday party we would have just had peanut butter and honey sandwiches." That comment fits him perfectly!

We are hoping to make this trip a family tradition because it was so fun. Hopefully it happens again next summer!

How fun for you guys!! That is a great place!! So what's the status of Mike and his girlfriend? Is it serious??????? I mean, he did bring her to a family reunion!! Are we going to be needing to make another trip to Utah after this week soon??? Looking forward to seeing you all. And I will bring your "Catching Fire" book!!!

Are your grandparents Cloyd and LaRue Chamberlain?

If so we are related. My mother, Illena, is your Gma's sister.

I happened upon your blog because I was looking for info about The Goodfellow House as a possible reunion destination.

Cheers --
